Day trip alert! Enjoy a “Kids Club THIRTEEN Day” from 10: 00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. at this idyllic destination just outside the city. Bring a picnic to enjoy on the Meadow, walk over 80 acres of nature trails, drop in to the Heckscher Farm and say hello to the animals, and don’t miss the latest exhibition in the Bendel Mansion Museum Galleries.

Masters Of The Night: Don’t miss the chance to  learn the truth about the amazing masters of the night also known as bats. This spectacular exhibit allows you to get up close to these mysterious and fascinating creatures. If you think bats are spooky, think again! Did you know that bats are actually gentle mammals that play an integral part in maintaining environmental balance? Join us for a special Kids Club- only live animal presentation “Nocturnal in Nature”. You might even see a white bat, a long-tailed bat, and even a wrinkled-face bat!  In addition to the multiple bats on display, you’ll have a chance to meet a variety of live nocturnal animals, discover the adaptations nighttime animals have, and even have a chance to eat like a bat by trying some edible insect treats! There will also be a variety of hands-on activities and interactive stations, such as “Bat Ears,” “Feast in Flight,” and the “Echo – Echo Unit.” Special programs are at 1:30 and 3 pm in the Bendel Mansion.

Summer Sundays on the Farm:  Get ready for some good ol’ fashion fun at the farm. Visit the SM&NC vegetable garden for some self-guided reading, planting or crafting, watch otters have their lunch, meet one of their farm animals up close, help with a farm chore, explore a barn, join in a cooking project to take home or more.
